IMPORTANT DATES.
It is declared as the CORE AREA of tiger reserve in 1973 and Wildelife Sanctuary in 1977.on 4th May 1984 it was declared a National Park of India , also considerd as World Network of Biosphere Reserve from 2001. The Sundarban was esteblished in 1869. In 1875a large portion of Mangrove forest was decleared as Reserved forest under ACT VIII of 1865. A forest division which is basis of Fprest Managment createdin 1879 with the headquaters in khulna , Bangladesh.
GEOGRAPHY
Sundarban National Park is located in between 21° 432′ – 21° 55′ N latitude and between 88° 42′ – 89° 04′ E longitude. In generally it is located in South 24 Parganal ,West Bengal India . with nearst city KolKata. The average altitude of the park is 7.5 m above sea level. 54 small islands compose the park and several distributaries of the Ganges River intersect it ECO GEOGRAPHY
The eco-geography of this area is totally dependent on the tidal effect of two flow tides and two ebb tides occurring within 24 hours with a tidal range of 3–5 m and up to 8 m[5][6] in normal spring tide, inundating the whole of Sunderban in varying depths. The tidal action deposits silts back on the channels and raising the bed, it forms new islands and creeks contributing to uncertain geomorphology.[7] There is a great natural depression called "Swatch of No Ground" in the Bay of Bengal between 21°00' to 21°22' latitude where, the depth of water changes suddenly from 20 m to 500 m.[5][8] This mysterious depression pushes back the silts towards south and/or further east to form new islands.Climate Temperature
The average minimum and maximum temperature is 20 °C and 48 °C respectively. Rainfall is heavy with humidity as high as 80% as it is close to the Bay of Bengal. The monsoon lasts from mid-June to mid-September. Prevailing wind is from the north and north-east from October to mid-March and south west westerlies prevails from mid-March to September. Storms which sometimes develop into cyclones are common during the months of May and October.LAND AREA
The Sundarban National Park having an area of totally 10,000 sq.feet. but geographly divide in tow countries . BANGLADESH and INDIA .mainly bandladesh having a large area of labdis 6000.sq.feet with larger species population and tigers .And india due to having small area of land it is 40000.sq.feet only hve not so larged species and tiger population .Due to this tigers re more Bangladesh as compared to india .Endangered Population
Sundarban Mangrove is considerd as the single largest Home of Royal Bengal White Tiger But presenty conditions show that the population rapidey decreases unless at present time 250-280 tigers population only left . thers are 58 specis of mammals,55 reptils and houses a large number of reptiles as well, including estuarine crocodiles, chameleons, monitor lizards. it is one of the largest such forests in the world (140,000 ha), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. It is adjacent to the border of India’s Sundarbans World Heritage site inscribed in 1987. The site is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests, and presents an excellent example of ongoing ecological processes. The area is known for its wide range of fauna, including 260 bird species, the Bengal tiger and other threatened species such as the estuarine crocodile and the Indian pythonMEN EATTERS
In India and Bangladesh are estimated to kill more than 50 peoples annually sundarban is a home of more then 400 tigers and it is single largest population .But seven main largest rivers and innumerable watercources form a network of of channels at this estuarine delta and then mangrove swamp is formed by this merging of therr maily rivers are Gang , Brahmaputra and Meghnais . due to directly floe of died body without properly burry them thrown on river Ganga which flow and get depositedon the river banks of sundarban where the tigers and others EAT them become "A MEN EATTERS" becouse the link the taist of human blood ..
